I came across this recipe online and I tweaked it a bit to my preference. It has really helped my skin in the past few months and I decided to share it with you guys since a number of people requested blog posts on acne and acne-prone skin. Thanks to this toner acne has nothing on me! NOTHINGG!

-Feel free to play around with the recipe and tweak it to your preference but do your research first!

-Do a patch test on the back of your neck or like you thigh (somewhere no one will see) to see if you react to the ingredients in this toner

For this toner you will need:

-3/4 cup hot water

-1 green tea bag

-2 tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)

-2 tablespoons water

-Lavender Essential Oil(2 drops)

-Tea Tree Essential Oil(2 drops)

-A container to store your toner

1. First, pour the hot water into a mug and add the green tea bag to it, just like you would when making normal tea. After 10 minutes remove the tea bag and let the tea cool off.

2. In another container, mix the apple cider vinegar, water and the essential oils.

3. When the tea is completely cold add it to the container with the other ingredients and transfer to your container of choice.

How to use:

- I recommend using your toner after you have washed and exfoliated (if you don’t exfoliate that day it’s fine) your face.

- Just apply some to a cotton pad and wipe it all over your face and let it dry.

- MAKE SURE you use a MOISTURIZER after! So your face is not left dry.

Why I chose the ingredients

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR

Apple Cider Vinegar contains Alpha Hydroxy Acids (blog post on this soon), Antioxidants and other minerals which help to exfoliate your skin, fight bacteria and germs which helps to promote smoother skin in general.

It also helps to balance your skins ph. However, it can be quite drying, that’s why I advice you dilute it first and always use a moisturizer afterwards.

GREEN TEA

Green tea has strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties which help to reduce blemishes, acne and redness. It also helps to clear clogged pores and it acts as a gentle exfoliant.

ESSENTIAL OILS

Lavender Essential Oil helps to sooth and calm the skin which is important after using Apple Cider Vinegar. It also makes the toner smell nice for those that are bothered about the smell of Apple Cider Vinegar.

Tea Tree Essential Oil has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties which help to reduce swelling, redness and acne scars, leaving you with clear skin.

Once again all the ingredients can be gotten on Jumia (www.jumia.com.ng)

Thanks for reading and I hope you try out this recipe

Does this combination helps to reduce hyperpigmentation and eventually get rid of it?
